The U.S. Open is one of the most famous sporting events in the world. People from across the globe come to the United States to witness tennis greats duke it out on the court. But because so many people come to watch this tennis tournament, the event generates a ton of trash.
Luckily, two companies have teamed up to serve up a clever solution.
Sustainable fashion brand Rothy's is joining with Evian, the maker of the water bottles distributed at the tournament, to produce limited-edition tennis accessories.
The companies collected over 72,000 Evian water bottles from the 2021 U.S. Open to make stunning recycled goods, according to the New York Post. The chic items that make up the capsule collection include tennis bags, hats, visors, and shoes, all of which are durable and machine washable.
To create these limited-edition products, the Evian bottles were first broken down and then blended with other recyclable materials. The threads were then artfully crafted into tennis accessories using Rothy's 3D knitting process. All of the manufacturing was done at a Rothy's factory that prioritizes creating as little waste as possible.
The accessories range in cost from $75 to a tad under $500. So if you're looking for stylish and guilt-free accessories that come with a cool backstory, look no further.
